America is a country whose culture has recently learned it can use words to create an image but those words lack meaning without feeling or conviction. For this reason foremost pride and respect are misunderstood and rarely accurately seen or felt. Our political process is full of people bent on popularity rather than credibility, virtue or valor and they added to an already real problem. It may have created a situation where it was noticeable enough to get fixed though! Respecting women, blacks, handicap people means looking at them and understanding they are just as important as you. It is not at all taught in our society. It is said, but it is modeled to see ourselves as the best or as others better than us because we live in an individualistic society where competition is the basis of our social connection. That is toxic. To respect the world and the people in it, imagine what you want to feel from someone you love to you. Imagine respect and pride in yourself. Then allow people you meet to have that same from you. Intoxicate them with your resepect which you wish to receive, the world as well. Then take pride in something wonderful you have done or seen or believe in or where ever it can be found. And put that pride in every word you say… you will notice it is hard until you start thinking about the words you say. Then speak like like and behave like this for a day. Its surreal not because its bad but because it is different.
