It is part of the human mind to see patterns. Quite often we see them when there is nothing really there. More often than that our own behavior creates a pattern because we repeat our behavior. Determinism is what the concept is called when one thing proceeds and creates another. It coexists with free will, not predestination. Patterns of emotions and theme are more dangerous and common even to higher thinking folk. But we are not bound to them even if we feel like they control us. We control our single next action and the many of those create our patterns. No one is bound to a single pattern of sociality, emotion, chemical, we are free to imagine and act upon out our next decision and action.
The normal human existence WANTS to fit in. To a group, to a set of emotions, to a persona, to a theme. But they are always free to do anything, the patterns they see and bend to are self-inflicted. The belief in those patterns is what keeps on down, up or not aware. We can at anytime stop our car, get out on the freeway, run in circles and sing led zeppelin if we so desire. The reason we don’t is its out of our pattern but it is within our freedom.
One can create a new pattern and jump into it, quite immediately if they use their mind and are actively aware of their actions. This is the beauty of free will. Its easier to fit in because the brain can see the behavior and follow a script. So is it that we are beasts of repetition and leader following so we follow others, bigger, popular patterns of being; they can be sad, successful, pitiful or anywhere in the between and far away but they are patterns we see. Random is also a possibility but not totally likely as the brain does pull from somewhere.
We can create a pattern we like because we have the freedom of imagination. Create a person in your mind and imagine their likely next action. This can be your next action and as you follow you will create the pattern. Imagine the pattern which you will fall into and the brain shall adapt to it comfortably. Create all parts of it, the vibe, emotion, goals, steps and create it how you want it to be. The next step is your only worry and your complete freedom to make in the story you write. You are your pattern but you are always free to scrap it and start anew or even get back into an old one. No pattern is bigger than you. No play is bigger than its only actor.
