We often have emotions which are unwieldy and cannot be stopped even though we know them to be meaningless, separate from reason and logic. While life includes emotion it is vital to be able to escape from emotions of this sort. We,as sentient beings, can label emotions or people whatever we want. We have the ability to judge and chose what emotion we like and how we feel about it. This spans several premises so I will break them down then get to the ends of this crazy train.

The brain and the mind are separate things. This entail that our emotions must also pick a side and they are testable and chemically proven to be part of the brain. A human is their consciousness, the mind. The brain has chemicals and patterns to assist but it is the assistant. Not the boss.

Many issues of emotions and logic is that they are not immediately correlated even if immediately and intimately related. When someone tells you something horrible or wonderful, you then feel that way! If moments later, someone tells you that it was a lie after you have become irate or enamored then a strong emotion coming from a long wondering and backup chemical dam is still flooding even though you have logically deduced that she said Steve’s a jerk and not that she jerked off Steve. The emotion is still there even though you know its wrong. Feeling isn’t believing, otherwise drugs would be truth serums and they are not.

We can call emotions whatever we want to call them. It is our ability with our feelings just as it is our ability with people. If we label Joey a moron who is silly at a constant, we aren’t concerned with his rants or issues. We can do the same to a specific emotion we have and it can be highly dynamic for positive effects. Once we have separated our emotions from ourselves and learned to identify them as something we want, don’t want, but certainly something taht is not controlling us, then we find a real slice of freedom in ourselves.
