Nothing about a person is permanent without hard work and commitment. This means that when a being screws up and we stay hating them forever, we’re putting in a whole lot of work to keep the emotion of that situation, that memory’s impact, alive and kicking. Take a moment to realize that. Everything we resent and are angry about happened in the past. It is human psychology to remember shittier things around twenty times more than good things because lions and starvation and our history kind of stuff. We want to see patterns and survive… and that shit is leaking onto social relationships. Nicole isn’t going to kill you, she just didn’t want to dance with you RIGHT then. Holding onto this anger and resentment CREATES patterns; self-fulfilling social prophecies! Letting go of resentments is a huge deal. It’s growth and giving others freedom to be better and creating the chance for you to let go of stress. People are not permanent beasts, we change and grow with situation and influence. Letting go of that anger labeled on a person in our memory allows us freedom and them the freedom to be good.
