My father, Warren Frederick Mierop, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, April 17, 2015.
He lived to be 93 years old!
I am truly humbled by the outpouring of love and condolences in the few days after his passing, both in your comments and your personal messages. I am blessed to have such caring and compassionate friends. You have no idea of the impact your kind words have had on me.

Professor Mierop,
The recent news of your fathers unfortunate passing has me sending all condolences to you and your family.
While I never knew your father, your detailed stories during lectures described him as a resilient and loving man; despite his disdain for delicious garlic.
A man of your beliefs and morals is one whom I believe to celebrate life rather than morn its departure. So may your fathers life be celebrated on this sad day, more importantly may his creations (you) carry forward his resilient and loving approach to strangers, that I witnessed during every lecture and student dinner.
May your father rest in eternal peace alongside his love and your caring mother.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. This week has been a long week for my boyfriend as his grandfather passed away this past week as well. Jeff’s father is an amazing man with a big loving, wise heart . . . I imagine it came from his father, Jeff’s grandpa . . . so, this being said, it seems like you and your father had a great relationship and he must of had something to do with one of the coolest, biggest influence, kind-hearted people I’ve met, you. I saw the news of your dad’s passing and I wanted to send you my condolences for you and your family. I can only imagine how difficult this time may be, but I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I know we don’t talk often but you had a very special impact on my life. I look back to many of the lectures from class and still remember vividly the affect you had on me.
