The third person perspective is a beautiful way to organize life and the lack of it makes us blind to our own behavior. My favorite thing to do is to laugh at horrible things, because I fucking can. Humor is subjective and my life is my choice, so I chose to find the humor and fun in chaos. And you can chose to define your life as you feel once you step outside yourself and look at the whole picture, perspective junkie style.
This may sound inhuman but that’s a bias of doing the opposite, and pride speaking against your best interest in it’s loud and foolish roar. One can always laugh at themselves’ and enjoy the show of life as it is entertaining on a myriad of merits in its being. Stepping out the scene allows one the scope to enjoy life like this. It may disengage the self from the experience, expressing a “spaceyness” momentarily but those witnessing the spaceyness also miss the view you have. This is great way to better understand the self and see the situation.
Only in third person perspective can one see the full scope of things because the scene is now in clear view instead of one’s own normal goals, biases, ambitions and fears. You can from here evaluate your own actions, their consequences of possible likelihood, and the view points and roles of others’. This allows you the space to logically maneuver and critically evaluate the scene instead of being trapped within the emotional response, the excitement ,be it good of bad, of the moment. Ironically, it is one of the best ways to get totally into a moment by stepping out of it to look back at it.
It is again human to have many things on our minds. Lingering angers, worries and wants deter from complete focus of the here and now so we cannot be either. In swapping your point of view, you create what Buddhists call purposeful attention. You create an awareness instead of enjoying or loathing the mindset your brain is currently pondering. Just like in sports, being fully engaged creates a focus so when you step back to look at everything you dismiss the many thoughts still hanging around from past because there isn’t room or passion to go around. You see all angles here and now instead of one outlook with many old and arbitrary ones from far away and never again.
It is brilliant in that here with this viewpoint one can immediately enjoy the chaos they endure. Because horror movies can be comedies if you look at them with a laugh in mind same as a comedy can be a piece of art if seen with cognition poised for the technique, texture, and application of setting and contrast, so can a horrible situation be greatly enjoyed from a different point of view. This simple truth exists because one moment is only one fucking moment. It is in human nature to make things feel pervasive and catastrophic, but not logical. Nor like, right. One moment is not the whole story so just the same way one sings RESPECT and messes up that line two lines after you spell respect out-loud, Im not ever looking that up, and you’re not bothered by it can you not let one moment of derp ruin your life, day, conversation, or dance.
