Did you know that during the pandemic, America’s billionaires collectively got $4.6 trillion richer while small business owners were forced to lockdown (some permanently)? As a result of this news, many hard-working Americans have seen the light regarding big corporations and the elite class and vow to support local businesses instead.
This is certainly an excellent adaptation to continue supporting. But what are some other ones that have come to light in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic that are worth sticking to?
Learning How to Thrive at Home
People are fickle. If you polled the average worker pre-pandemic, many would say they’d rather be home. But after being “forced” to live out life in the confines of their homes, those same people are complaining that they can’t stand being stuck at home.
A select few discovered the secret to happiness at home, and that includes eating healthy, exercising, making the most of precious family time, and utilizing every square inch of your space to better accommodate your needs.
Why is this important? Many insiders believe that more COVID variants are on the horizon. It’s possible that lockdowns or similar scenarios will arise. So why not prepare yourself now and make the most of your home? You’ll be one step ahead of the curve and ready to take on adversity if it comes knocking.
Support Your Local Community
Some small business owners were fortunate enough to be able to reopen their doors for business. But for many others, the pandemic wiped them out and forced them to close up shop indefinitely. And all the while, the rich got richer.
It’s safe to say that this could have been avoided if everyone had shopped locally over the years leading up to the pandemic instead of sinking their money into the conveniences of big corporations.
Take Wal-Mart, for example. In 2020, its fiscal revenue was actually up 6.7 percent, with the company ranking in nearly $560 billion. It begs the question, though: Why were they allowed to stay open when mom and pop businesses were forced to close down?
If ever there was a time to support your local businesses, it’s now. In doing so, you’re ensuring that your neighbors, friends, and family have jobs. And it will keep your community thriving when the going gets tough.
Take Time to Learn
Some people fell into depression and despair during the pandemic. Others used that time to better themselves. Whether it was learning to speak another language, taking up a new hobby, getting in peak physical and mental condition, or reading a book, the pandemic allowed a unique window of opportunity.
Some took advantage of it; others did not. Granted, some people got really sick, or worse. But those who didn’t get sick had a choice to make: use their time wisely or idly wait for things to get better.
Get in Touch with Nature
Social distancing mandates caused people to become even more disconnected than they already are. But others took advantage of this suggestion and decided to get in touch with nature. There’s certainly plenty of it out there, so why not surround yourself with it and step away from life’s daily stressors?
Make Your Home a Vibrant Space
Being cooped up inside can quickly lead to fighting and stress if you don’t know how to cope with it. By making your home a fresh and inviting space, you can reduce the tension and make being around family something you want to do. The key is to get rid of clutter and let plenty of fresh air. It will take some effort, but the rewards are more than worth it.
